We are a team comprised of an Emmy-nominated documentarian and Digital Storytelling graduate, entrepreneurs, trainers, journalist, and multimedia artists who use digital storytelling or story video production in our work and daily lives. We are TheStoryFactory.
Aurelia L Castro is a writer, photographer, and digital storyteller. A former journalist, she was trained by the Center for Digital Storytelling (USA) as a digital storytelling facilitator. She co-founded Digital Storytelling Asia and facilitated workshops in Singapore, Philippines, and USA. Her job has taken her to other countries like Africa, Japan, London, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and more. Capturing and telling people’s stories that are relevant to their respective places is what she does – CEOs, community leaders and workers, artists, a beauty queen, prison inmates, educators, retirees, young professionals, slum kids, ballet dancers, business people, and more. She did stories for Our Better World (Singapore International Foundation), Singapore’s Ministry of Education, Badjao Bridge, DanceSport Team Cebu City, Kizimani, The Chocolate Chamber, and more.
Deborah Hoe loves stories in all forms: written, spoken, and visual. She was trained in Mathematics and worked as a Research Analyst and Associate Trainer before pursuing her Masters in Digital Storytelling in the United States. Deborah received a regional Emmy Award nomination for her work as lead writer in a documentary. She also enjoyed a stint at the Center for Digital Storytelling, the home of the digital storytelling movement. She recently completed a Master in Gerontology, braved herself to tell stories in front of a live audience, and became a certified pet loss and bereavement counselor.
Goh Ai Yat is a business storyteller. She teaches entrepreneurship, visual problem solving, active retirement, financial planning, setting up your own company, and other finance and management skills trainings. She uses stories to translate complex ideas or concepts into a language that is more meaningful to her audience. She has weaved powerful stories, based on personal experiences, in her work as a trainer, to teach business lessons, guide careers, and mentoring. Her stories inspire and motivate people to invest in their self-development to stay relevant in the business and work environments.
