“I was 17 – naïve in the choices I made. I decided to leave school – the world out there had much more to offer than the “academic rigour” I had for 11 years. But I was so wrong! At 17 – I had little to offer – so I took what came my way – a job at a school canteen. It meant long hours of hard work – for $2. It took no more than 14 days – that the silent voice inside me said – Ai Yat, you can do better, you have what it takes to create a better tomorrow for you and your family. So I decided to go back to school.
